Two Bentleys, both shot across California. The Continental GT brooding through coastal fog; the Bentayga running golden hour from inland hills to the Pacific.

The shoot
No brief and no shot list. The ask was to shoot the car the way I shoot everything else, which is the rarest thing to be handed and the easiest to overthink.
The plan was sun. The Bay Area had other ideas. Fog off the Pacific doesn't negotiate and doesn't hold still, and by the second location the choice was to fight it all day or shoot it. We shot it. A Continental GT in hard light is all reflection, every highlight competing with the next one down the flank. The fog did what a scrim does, only bigger. No hard speculars, no fighting the sky, just the shape of the car arriving out of the grey and leaving again. The frames got quieter, and quieter turned out to be right for this car.
The Bentayga was the opposite job. No scout and no call sheet, just a family getaway down the coast to Monterey with the camera along because it always is. Inland hills at golden hour, then the road bending west until the light ran out over the Pacific. Cars photograph differently when they are actually being used. Those frames are looser than the GT's, and that is the point.
